One TikTok user claim sey di bill wey dey seek to divide Oyo state into two don become law.

For di one-minute, 35-second video, di TikTok account —  @Eddieblisshotline — tok sey one new state don comot from Oyo.

Di video don gada ova 46.9K likes, 3,735 comments, and 6,139 shares for TikTok.

Di TikTok user also took sey Ibadan, wey be di capital of Oyo state, go come tanda wit anoda capital — Ibadan town.

She tok sey make residents for di state begin dey tink which one dem go join afta dem create di new one.

“Breaking News, dem don divide Oyo state into two. You know sey normally we get Ibadan and Oyo, wit Ibadan as di capital. Now dem dey tok sey Oyo go remain as si state while Oyo town go be capital,” na so she tok.

“Na di same tin for Ibadan, wey be di original capital of Oyo state wey go come be state on im own, wit Ibadan town as im capital, and dem don pass am into law.”

The claim was also seen on Instagram and Facebook.

DEM DON CREATE ANODA STATE FROM OYO?

On October 22, one bill wey dey seek to create new state from Oyo pass di second reading for di house of representatives.

Di bill sponsored by Akeem Adeyemi, member representing Oyo federal constituency, bin dey try change di 1999 constitution through di creation of di new state.

Adeyemi tok sey di creation of di new state bin dey important sake of di size of di state, wey im describe as di largest in the south-west, wit 33 LGA and population of 5,580,894 people (2006 census).

For bill to become law, e suppose don pass through three readings for both di senate and house of representatives, wit public hearing from pipu wey di tin concine before dem fit pass or reject am. 

Once all these criteria don balance, dem go send di bill give president for signing.
