One TikTok video claim sey dem don create new state wey di name na Orlu for di southeastern part of Nigeria.

Di 4-minute video for Igbo language don gada pass 31,000 views, 5,057 comments, and 3,889 shares.

According to di video by @marahchi, now Nigeria don get 37 states instead of 36.

She come start to list di states wey dey affected sake of di new Orlu state wey dem allegedly create.

“Una don wake? Dis tori wey dem tok sey dem pass one bill two days ago, sey instead of 36 states wey we get for Nigeria, now we don get 37 states and capital. So, dem create new state. For una wey no understand English, make I break am down for you. Dem don create new state called Orlu state,” na so she tok.

“Dem create am from parts of Abia state, Imo, and Anambra state wey dem join togeda call am Orlu state.

“If you from Anambra, make you check confam if you dey part of di pipu wey go join di new Orlu state. So, these towns wey I go mention now, una no longer dey come from Anambra state, na Orlu now.

“Towns like Ihiala, Uli, Ozubulu, Akokwa, Umuchu, Umunze, Umuaku, Nwangele, Nkwere, New Ideato North, Nwabosi West, Alaoma, Owerrebiri, Oguta, Isu, Arondizuogu, Ideato north, Ideato south, Njaba, Oru east, Orsu.”

DEM DON CREATE ORLU STATE FOR SOUTH-EAST?

On June 5, one bill wey dey seek to create new state for south-east pass first reading during plenary for house of representatives.

Di bill, sponsored by Ikenga Ugochinyere, member representing Ideato north and Ideato south federal constituency, bin seek di creation of Orlu state.

Di new state go comot from parts of Anambra, Imo and Abia states, according to di draft bill.

Within di six geopolitical zones for di kontri, south-east get only five states, while odas get 6 states with only north-west wey get 7 states.

As kontri wey dey practise bi-cameral legislature (two-chamber legislature), any bill — draft wey suppose be law — go first pass through di two chambers — senate and house of representatives — before dem approve am.

Di bill also suppose pass through three readings by both houses with public contributions from concerned parties before dem go pass or reject am.

After di two chambers pass am, e go reach president table for assent.
