On Sunday, a website — Politics Nigeria — published a 25-second video on Facebook wherein President Bola said “we have no fear whatever Trump is doing on the other side”.
The video has generated over 200 comments, 660 likes, and 95 reshares..
Many of the Facebook users who commented on the video attributed Tinubu’s comment to the recent social media posts of United States President Donald Trump on the alleged Christian genocide in Nigeria.
“Pls can anyone tag Trump to this?…… Or should I tag him myself 😹😹😹😹,” a Facebook user wrote.
“That one beside him seff body dey shake he knows what is at stake 😂😆😂 body go tell them,” another Facebook user wrote.
“You have no fear, not we sir. I have fear because I know what USA army can do when it comes to war🗡🔫,” another Facebook user wrote.
Last Friday, US President Donald Trump labelled Nigeria a “country of particular concern (CPC)” over claims of Christian genocide in the West African country.
The US leader also warned the Nigerian government to “better move fast” or he would make good his threat to stop all US aid and assistance to the country.
Subsequently, Trump threatened to unleash the department of war on Nigeria to fight the terrorists “that attack our cherished Christians”.
Trump’s comments have triggered conversations on the implications of possible US military action in Nigeria.
On November 2, Daniel Bwala, special adviser to Tinubu on policy communication, said the Nigerian leader and US President Donald Trump will meet “in the coming days” to discuss claims of Christian genocide in the country
VERIFICATION
The video published by Politics Nigeria was watermarked with the tag of “Viable TV”, a platform that publishes short video clips on YouTube.
When CableCheck examined the YouTube page of Viable TV, it was discovered that the video was published on September 2, 2025.
Media reports showed that the video was shot when Tinubu received members of The Buhari Organisation (TBO), led by Tanko Almakura, former Nasarawa governor, at the presidential villa on September 2, 2025.
During the meeting, Tinubu said his administration had stabilised the economy, noting that global disruptions — including moves by Trump — pose no threat to Nigeria’s fiscal progress.
“We have met our revenue target for the year, and we met it in August. If non-oil revenue is going well then we have no fear of whatever Trump is doing on the other side,” Tinubu had said.
Tinubu had commented on the decision of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) to increase global crude production to reduce oil prices amid pressure from Trump.
The US president had also imposed sweeping global tariffs, including 14 percent on Nigeria, on all imports into the US.
Tinubu’s comments during the meeting in September were purely on the country’s economic situation.
