One video wey announce di launch of free nationwide diabetes treatment recently go viral for Nigerian social media platforms.

Di clip claim sey Ali Pate, coordinating minister of health, launch one drug wey go save everibodi from diabetes with free delivery to pipu for dia houses.

Di way dem take package di claim, pesin wey no know go believe am. But, later di ministry of health dismiss am as AI video — one of di many deepfakes wey don waka for internet.

Deepfakes na artificial media wey pipu dey create with AI to make am look like sey pesin tok or do sometin even though dem no do am. Recently, dem don sey use am spread political agenda, commit fraud, and spoil pipu reputation.

So, how you fit catch one before e chuk you inside bottle? For this informate, Cable Check don break down seven signs of a AI-generated video.

SEVEN WAYS YOU FIT CATCH AI FOR VIDEO

  1. Facial movements wey no normal: Most AI videos get delayed or inconsistent blinking, strong smiles wey no dey reach di eyes, and over smooth turning of head wey resemble robot.
  2. Inconsistent eye direction: Deepfakes dey often show eyes wey dey stare for too long, dey blink more or less dan normal, or dey carry eye away from camera during times wey no dey normal, for example as di pesin dey tok.
  3. Di words wey dey comot no match with di pesin mouth: When you jam video and you no sure weda na AI, look di mouth wella. For plenti deepfakes, di mouth movements no dey always perfectly match di audio.
  4. Blurry fingers or impossible hands: AI still dey struggle to create realistic hands and fingers. For deepfake, you fit notice blurry or smudged fingers during movement, more dan five fingers fit dey one hand, or di hand gestures go dey unnaturally slow and one kain.
  5. Strange audio quality: Many AI-generated videos dey use di voice of di person wey dem dey try copy, but some tins fit help you catch weda na robot, for example unnatural pacing, or background noise wey dey cut in and out. Sometimes, di voice no dey match di environment, for instance, e go sound like sey di pesin dey inside while e show sey di person dey outside.
  6. Movement or background wey no make sense: AI sometimes no fit keep di background stable wen di subject dey move. You fit notice sey walls dey move, furniture dey bend, or objects dey use style change shape as camera dey move.
  7. Clothing and accessories glitches: AI-generated videos dey often struggle to keep clothing patterns consistent. As di pesin dey move, patterns fit shift unnaturally. You fit also notice as earrings dey disappear come reappear, or glasses wey no dey cast shadows or reflect light naturally.

Even though e don dey hard to catch AI videos, tools like InVID, Deepware Scanner and oda AI-detector fit help you check video wey dem don tamper wit before you believe am.
