FAKE NEWS ALERT: Akume hasn’t been replaced as SGF, says presidency

George Akume, secretary to the government of the federation

The presidency says reports on George Akume, secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), being replaced are a fabrication.

Social media posts on Akume resigning his position swirled on Saturday night.

However, in a statement, Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to the president on information and strategy, said President Bola Tinubu, who is away in Saint Lucia, has not made any new appointments.

“Akume remains SGF,” the statement reads.

“There has been no change in the status of His Excellency, Senator George Akume, as Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

“The information circulating about Akume’s replacement is untrue. Agents of mischief fabricated it.

“The Presidency advises Nigerians to disregard the fake news.”

TAGGED: Bayo Onanuga, Bola Tinubu, George Akume
