A video depicting some gunmen taking over armoured vehicles has been attributed to an incident in Nigeria by some social media users.
The video, which was mostly shared on Facebook, was used to drive the narrative of insecurity in Nigeria.
On August 11, a Facebook page identified as “Urhobo One Love” posted a video that depicts gunmen taking over armoured vehicles at a location.
“They said they’re hunter’s and farmers,” the page captioned the video.
Although the Facebook page did not mention the location of the incident, the page’s followers attributed it to Nigeria.
“Even Nigerian military no get these kind artilleries,” a Facebook user commented on the video.
CableCheck also observed that the video has been shared on multiple social media accounts.
A Facebook user identified as “Debra O Kalus” also published the video with the claim that communities in Kwara state were being invaded by “bookham terrorist”.
“BOOKHAM TERRORIST INVADING YORUBA COMMUNITIES MARKET IN KWARA STATE OF ONE NIGERIA,” the Facebook user captioned the video.
Another Facebook page identified as “NIGERIANS”, with over 400,0000 followers, posted the video with the caption: “ #InsecurityInNigeria Terrorists display vehicles and ammunition used for their operations. Nigeria Police Force HQ Nigerian Army.”

VERIFICATION
CableCheck analysed keyframes of the viral video on Google Lens; the findings indicate that the incident happened in 2024 in Burkina Faso.
Images and cues from multiple media reports indicate that on August 8, 2024, some terrorists belonging to Jama’at Nusrat ul-Islam wa al-Muslimin (JNIM) sect of al-Qaeda ambushed and attacked military personnel in the southeastern part of Burkina Faso.
During the attack, the terrorists reportedly killed over 100 soldiers and seized many armoured vehicles.
