FACT CHECK: Video of Ghanaian school fire incident falsely described as razed Nigerian Church

A TikTok user claims that jihadists have razed a church in the northern part of Nigeria.

The video was published by a TikTok user — @WakaWakaplanet — on November 2, with the caption: “#christianpersecution hits an all time high in Nigeria”.

A text that reads “another Church burned down by the islamic brotherhood in northern Nigeria” was displayed in the video

In the video, several ladies, believed to be students, wearing green and black uniforms, and others wearing black and white uniforms, were all visibly in tears over the fire incident in the building.

The video has so far gathered over 100 comments, 160 shares, and 1,000 likes.

The video was published some hours after US President Donald Trump asked the United States Department of War to prepare for “possible action” to wipe out Islamic terrorists in Nigeria.

Trump’s comment came a day after he redesignated Nigeria as a ‘country of particular concern’ in response to allegations of a Christian genocide in the country.

VERIFICATION

CableCheck analysed key frames of the video on Google Lens. The results showed that some media platforms in Ghana had posted the image since October 31, 2025.

TV3 Ghana, a television channel in Ghana, posted the video of the fire incident on Instagram.

According to TV3 Ghana, the fire incident occurred at Kwapong Nursing Training College in the Asunafo south district of the Ahafo region in Ghana.

Other Ghanaian news platforms also published reports on the fire incident at the nursing training school. The report can be found here, here, and here.

VERDICT

The claim that jihadists burned a church in northern Nigeria is false, as the video is from a fire incident in Ghana.
