A viral video showing a man firing a gun into the air in a celebratory manner, with one of the bullets hitting another man, is trending online.

In the 53-second video posted by multiple social media accounts in Nigeria, some men could be seen to have alighted from a motorcycle at an event in which some persons were gathered.

In the video, one of the men who alighted from the motorcycle started shooting a gun into the air.

Seconds after the shooting, one of the bullets shot in the air hit another man, who was wearing a ribbon-like material on his neck, and he immediately fell to the ground.

Those who were at the event quickly held the victim as blood was gushing out of his body.

Some of the social media users who posted the video claimed that the incident happened in Nigeria.

A Facebook user identified as Achiuior Terwase Bernard posted the video with the caption: “Fulani terrorists mistakenly shot their leader d£ad in a celebration”.

The video has so far gathered over 200 shares, 300 comments, and 430 likes.

The video was also posted by an X user @NaijaTrend_1 with the caption: “VIDEO: Watch the moment Armed bandit misfired his colleague during his wedding engagement”.

A Facebook page identified as Biafra Music Industry posted the video with the caption: “This is a marriage ceremony of a bandit leader, another bandit leader came visiting with AK-47 and mistakenly gone down the celebrant. this is exactly how the Most High will flush out every bandit in Igbo land, they will destroy themselves! Isee isee isee”.

On December 1, G.F Adetuberu, a Nigerian pastor and founder of Faith and Miracle International Church, posted a video via his Instagram account wherein a narrator said the incident in the viral video confirms the pastor’s “prophecy of November 1, 2025”.

The video posted by the Nigerian pastor includes a clip in which he predicts that bandits would turn their guns on themselves.

The viral video started trending on the Nigerian social media space amid the surge in violent attacks by bandits and terrorists in the northern part of Nigeria.

VERIFICATION

CableCheck analysed key frames of the video on Google Lens. It was discovered that some online blogs like Zambian Observer and Krudplug published reports saying that the incident happened in the Amdirib in Batha province of Chad, a country in Central Africa.

The reports said the incident happened on Friday, November 28, 2025, during a wedding ceremony.

The man who shot the gun was identified as the brother of the victim.

To confirm whether major online news platforms in Chad reported the incident, CableCheck searched the keyword “Amdirib in Batha province” on some Chadian online news platforms.

CableCheck found that Tchad Infos, a news platform in Chad, published a report on the incident on November 28. In the report, the platform said the victim was rushed to the hospital, where he died from the gunshot injuries.

Tchad Infos used a screenshot of the video as the featured image for the report.

Another Chadian platform — Alwihda Info — in an opinion article published on December 1, 2025, referenced the shooting incident.

In the article, the author lamented that the tradition of celebrating weddings in Chadian communities with gunshots has regularly turned into tragedies.

The author referenced the shooting incident that happened in Amdirib, adding that despite a ban on celebration shots by the ministry of public security, the tradition continues.

The title of the article was translated as “Celebratory Shooting – A Deadly Customary Practice in the Face of Security Imperatives”.
