Several Facebook pages reported that the police command in Kaduna rescued 300 people from a house in the Rigasa community in Igabi LGA of the state..

The post was accompanied by pictures showing police officers and children.

A Facebook page — Progressives Nigerian Politics — with over 111,000 followers posted in a news format titled: “BREAKING News!!! Homosexual Dems: Police Rescue over 300 People chained in A House In Kaduna”.

“A house containing over three hundred people chained in their arms and legs has been discovered by police in Kaduna State,” the part of the post reads.

“The police has unbundled the house, that is located in Rigasa community, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

“A house with over three hundred people in Rigasa community, Igabi local Government Area of Kaduna State has been unbundled by personnel of the Nigeria Police.

“Some of them according to the force are said to be from Burkina Faso, Mali and other African countries.”

The post implied that the incident happened in 2025.

VERIFICATION

CableCheck analysed the images posted on Google Lens. The results showed that the images have been on the internet since 2019.

Many national media platforms published the incident in 2019 when operatives of the police command in Kaduna set free at least 300 persons after a raid at an Islamic centre in Rigasa area of Kaduna.

According to the police, children among the victims were sexually abused, and others were tortured regularly.

Some days later, then President Muhammadu Buhari condemned the abuse of the Islamic centre.

CableCheck also observed that the posts and images from the Islamic centre are usually recycled on social media almost every year.

The Facebook page, Progressives Nigerian Politics, did the same thing in 2024.

VERDICT

The claim that Kaduna police recently rescued 300 people from a house in Rigasa community is misleading. The incident happened in 2019.
