Di Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) don react to one viral video wey show as dia officers enta kasala ontop shooting of civilian.

Di video start to waka for social media on Tuesday afta one Facebook user post am, claim sey e hapun dat same day.

“One Customs officer along Lagos-Benin Express Way shoot and kill one returnee, because im no gree give am Five Thousand Naira,” na so im write for di video.

“Di passengers bin dey return from di US and UK, to go Benin.

“Dis tin hapun today, June 3rd, 2025. Abeg dey share am till e reach di highest authorities. Wetin dis kontri dey turn into??????”

For di video, one woman dey shout dey accuse customs officer of killing one man sake of N5000 bribe.

Di woman tok for Pidgin.

Di passengers come dey beat di accused customs officer while dead bodi, wey resemble di man wey dem shoot, lie down for ground.

CUSTOMS EXPLAIN SEY NA OLD VIDEO 

Abdullahi Maiwada, NCS national public relations officer, release statement wey tok sey di incident hapun on February 17, 2019, no be recent tin.

Im issue di statement on behalf of Bashir Adeniyi, customs comptroller-general.

Maiwada tok sey di incident hapun for di Shagamu interchange for Ogun, sey di service take immediate steps to address di situation.

“We bin issue public statement at dat time, and disciplinary panel bin dey established to investigate di mata wella” na so Maiwada tok.

“At di end of di process, we give di necessary sanction, including sacking di officers wey dey guilty.

“E dey important to repeat sey di NCS na confam govment agency wey dey guided by rules of engagement and, therefore, no go accept any misconduct from im personnel.

“Even though di video fit don comot again unexpectedly, we address di issue to di end and serve justice according to di Service’s rules.”

Maiwada urge di public to avoid spreading report wey no correct, sey instead, make dem find di correct informate through NCS official channels.

TheCable also find reports of di incident for 2019.

According to di reports, di NCS bin deny sey dia officer bin find bribe.

Di service also identify di pesin wey dem shoot as citizen wey dey run errands for customs officers anytime dem come back from assignment, not bus passenger as di Facebook post bin claim.

At dat time, NCS bin tok sey na by mistake dia officer shoot am as dem dey struggle.
