One social media post don claim sey some concerned police inspectors for Akwa Ibom state bin dey protest sake of 11 months unpaid salary.

Di claim wey comot for X bin dey togeda wit foto wey show some police officers wey dey hold placards wey dem write tins like “SOME DON KPAI”.

Di foto wey dem don share for different social media platform including Facebook, don gada pass 1.1k likes, 54 quotes, 662 reposts, and 238 comments.

Di claim come some days afta di suspension of di #EndBadGovernance protest for Nigeria, wit different reports of violence and police wey target protesters wit teargas.

“NA TURN BY TURN !! Economic hardship —Police officers wey dey vex dey protest 11 months unpaid salaries,” na so some of di post tok.

“One group of police officers under di banner of di Concerned Police Inspectors in Nigeria (CPIN) hold peaceful protest for Uyo, di Akwa Ibom State capital, sake of salary wey dem neva collect for 11 months.

“Di officers, wey dem promot from Inspector II to Inspector I, don pass 1,500 personnel from different police formations across di state.

“Dem call on di Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, to intervene and make sure sey dem pay dem dia salary arrears, wey dem tok sey dey necessary for dia survival as di current harsh economic conditions for di kontri dey bite.”

WETIN WE CHECK

To confam di claim, TheCable check di foto for Google reverse image search, see sey di foto first comot internet on September 7, 2022, wen some constabulary officers bin hold protest ova unpaid 18-month salary for Osogbo, Osun state.

Also, no beta news medium report di alleged protest.

TheCable also notice sey di claim bin comot from di account of one supporter of di proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Olumuyiwa Adejobi, police chief informate, tok sey di claim “no get head and na attempt to spoil police name”.

Adejobi tok sey di police dey constantly address any concerns wey members raise to make sure sey all grievances dey reach di right channels.

Im explain sey na di ministry of finance dey pay police salary directly through di Integrated Personnel Payroll System (IPPIS), no be di inspector- general of police or di Nigerian Police Force.

“Di Nigeria Police Force don describe di misleading report wey one group of journalists dey publish as mischievous. Di report claim sey some police inspectors approach dem for dia correspondent chapel, for Uyo, to express grievances and to protest against di non-payment of dia promotion salary increase over some time. Di report no get head and na calculated attempt to spoil di police name,” na so di statement tok.

“Furthermore, e dey very clear sey neither di office of di inspector-general of police nor di Nigeria Police Force dey accountable and responsible for salary payments; na di Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) get dis responsibility, under di federal ministry of finance.

“Di inspector-general of police, therefore, dey encourage all personnel wey get welfare-related concerns to reach di appropriate authorities within dia respective commands or formations, to avoid any action wey go put di force for poto poto.”

FINAL TOK

Di claim wey tok sey police inspectors for Akwa Ibom bin dey protest sake of 18-month unpaid salary no correct.

Di foto wey dey accompany di claim na old one of police constabularies wey protested for Osun state in 2022.
