Atiku make plenti claim for Arise TV interview but how many of dem correct?

For interview with Arise TV, Atiku Abubakar, former vice-president and di presidential candidate of di Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) make plenti claim. Some na about wetin im dey plan for Nigeria, odas na about wetin im don do before.

TheCable check wetin im tok and na wetin we find be dis.

CLAIM 1: Abraham Lincoln, one of di famous leaders for America, contest for president 5-6 times before im come finally win.

FINAL TOK: No bi true.

Abraham Lincoln no contest for president reach five or six times as Atiku claim. 

Di first time wey Lincoln contest president for 1860, im win. And dem re-elect am in 1864.

Na im be di 16th president of di United States. John Wilkes Booth come try kill am for Ford’s Theatre, Washington DC.  Lincoln die di next day on April 15, 1865.


CLAIM 2: No law for Nigeria sey make govment workers no do business. 

FINAL TOK: No bi true. Di Nigerian legislation no gree make full time govment workers do business, except na farming.

Section 6(b) of di Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) and Tribunal Act only gree make public servants farm any type of farm.

Di same tok still dey sections 2 (a) and (b) of di fifth schedule to di 1999 Constitution.

Timi Olagunju, one lawyer and policy analyst, tell TheCable sey section 6 of di Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) and Tribunal Act no use small mouth tok di mata.

CLAIM 3: About 80 million pipu dey live for Egypt and dem get more dan 2 million policemen. 

FINAL TOK: All of dem no bi true. No correct information gree sey Egypt get 2 million police officers.

According to di 2015 Home Office analysis of di Egyptian armed forces,  the Egyptian National Police Force get like 350,000 pipu wey dia work na to make sure sey pipu dey obey law and evriwhere dey kampe.

In September 2014, dem put all di pipu wey dey di Egyptian armed forces at 458,500 (army: 340,000, air force: 100,000, navy: 18,500), with total of 479 000 pipu wey dem keep one side.

CLAIM 4: Di oil sector get 20 percent of Nigeria’s GDP.

Information from Statista show sey between October 2018 and July 2021, di oil sector contribute less dan 10 percent to di national GDP. 

TheCable still check data wey di National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) release come see sey di highest amount wey di oil sector contribute between 2019 and 2021 na 9.77 percent and na for di third quarter of 2019.

In 2021, oil contribution to di GDP drop go 7.24 percent from di 8.16 percent where im bin dey for 2020.

From all di data wey TheCable check, oil contribution to di GDP in di last 3 years neva reach 10 per cent.
