FAKE NEWS ALERT: Emirates not offering free flight giveaway

Emirates Airline says travellers should disregard a fake message on social media promising free flight tickets.

Emirates Airline is the flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The viral message contains a link asking air travellers to take part in a quiz to find a golden ticket and stand a chance to win up to two round-trip tickets to Europe, Asia or domestic flights.

“This is Emirate’s vacation giveaway – hurry up, the opportunity is melting away,” reads the welcome message on the fake website.

“Answer this short quiz, find the golden ticket and win up to 2 round-trip tickets to Europe, Asia or Domestic flights.”

Carla, a customer care representative of Emirates Airline told TheCable that there are no free flights currently being offered to customers.

“From our own end, we don’t know of any free flight giveaway, please disregard the information,” Carla said.

In June, a similar message was in circulation, asking people to take part in a quiz to win Dh 10,000.

The airline said it is not an official competition and further urged customers to rely on the official website and verified social media accounts for information.
