Di report claim sey wen pesin start to dey baff like dis, blood dey quick rush go head cause di arteries for inside head jam, next tin stroke go follow.

“According to different studies around di world, di nomba of pipu wey don kpai or get paralysis sake of stroke during baff dey increase evriday. According to doctors, pesin suppose dey obey instructions wen dem dey baff,” na so di article tok.

“If you dey baff wey you no obey di correct instruction, you fit kpai.”

Di tori wey don dey evriwhere for social media add sey doctors advise sey make pesin no dey pour water for head first wen im dey baff becos e fit increase di way wey blood dey flow, wey go increase di chances of stroke, especially for those pipu wey get high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or migraines.

TheCable check see sey di article don dey internet since 2019, when one Facebook user, Mohammd Ullah, share am for im profile.

Anoda Facebook user bin folo share di post in 2020 wey e gada pass 300 reactions, 170 shares, and 65 comments.

Even for 2021 and 2022, dem share di article plenti times.

In di past few weeks, di tori begin dey waka again for internet, wit di same words and di same foto.

TINS WEY DEY CAUSE STROKE AND HOW E DEY AFFECT BRAIN

According to di US Centre for Disease Control (CDC), stroke dey hapun wen blood no dey gree flow to some parts of di brain again or wen blood vessel inside di brain burst. When di tin hapun, parts of di brain go spoil or die. Di CDC tok sey stroke fit cause lasting brain damage, long-term disability, or even death.

TheCable check some medical websites including di UK national health service, Mayo Clinic ,and Johns Hopkins Medicine, to check di tins wey fit cause stroke.

Some of di things dem mention include high blood pressure (hypertension), obesity, high cholesterol levels, diabetes, excessive alcohol intake, stress, age, family history, and ethnicity.

None of di medical websites tok anytin about di “wrong way to baff” as problem wey dey cause stroke.

‘NOTHIN JOIN STROKE WIT DI WAY PESIN DEY BAFF’

Omojowolo Olubunmi, stroke physician and neurologist for di UK, tell TheCable sey di claim no correct.

Im explain sey wen pesin pour water for head, e dey mainly affect some of di blood vessels wey no too dey important, and e go make dem either shrink or expand based on di water temperature.

“However, no be those blood vessels dey cause stroke. Na di blood vessels wey dey deep inside di brain dey cause stroke. Water no dey affect those ones. So di claim no get scientific head,” na so im tok.

“Stroke no dey hapun like dat. Specific reasons dey wey dey cause stroke. E no get anytin to do wit how you baff, whether you pour water for head or leg first. E no change anytin, notin join stroke wit am at all.

“Wetin dey cause stroke na clearly recognised problem like hypertension, diabetes, atrial fibrillation, irregular heartbeats, some types of stroke na becos of haemorrhages, dat is, wen blood dey enta brain.”
